WAKEFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - Wakefield Police are searching for a man they believe was involved in a theft of a customer at a convenience store.

Police say an elderly man was waiting in line at the Quick Mart at 377 Lowell Street. The man told police he noticed a white man who appeared to be in his 20s standing behind him. The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

As the elderly man left the store, the man in the sweatshirt opened the door for him and followed him out of the store. The customer felt a nudge on his hip as he opened his car door. When he got into the car he noticed his wallet was missing.

A few hours later, the elderly man found his wallet in his mailbox, but $400 in cash was missing.

Wakefield Police are asking anyone who may recognize the man in the photo to contact police.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 781-245-1212.
