WAKEFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - Police in Wakefield took to social media to thank a person who donated pizza to the department on Wednesday.

On the department’s Facebook page, police took a moment to acknowledge the kind act.

The photo shows two pizzas and a note that reads, “Sorry For Iowa.”

Wakefield’s police responded with the following message:

To the nice person who anonymously had pizzas delivered for our shift with a message, we thank you. Earlier this morning two Iowa officers were fatally shot in their cruisers in what appeared to be an ambush style shooting a half hour apart from each other. Our thoughts are with the Des Moines and Urbandale Police Departments. We are thankful to have such strong support from our own community. Thank you.

The kind gesture came hours after authorities apprehended a man Wednesday suspected in the early morning killings of two Des Moines area police officers who were shot to death while sitting in their patrol cars in what authorities described as separate ambush-style attacks.

His arrest came about eight hours after the killings to two officers.
