WALTHAM, Mass. (WHDH)– A child was taken by helicopter to the hospital, after being hit by a car in Waltham just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The 12-year-old was on a bike headed to school when he was hit by the car on Pine Street.

"I saw the police and fire arriving and the young boy on the ground, bleeding from the head. He was pretty bad. He was conscious and alert but he was terrified. He was crying and he was bleeding from the head. They had a big towel on his head," said Robert Logan, witness.

The 22-year-old driver was not injured. Police are investigating the accident but say it doesn't appear the driver is at fault.
