WEYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A Weymouth man was arrested Tuesday with various assault-style weapons and ammunition after a months-long investigation.

Robert Kurtzer has been under investigation by the FBI for two months.

On July 12 State Police pulled over a white Dodge Ram truck for a marked lanes traffic violation.

When officers asked Kurtzer if there were any weapons in the truck, he said, “Lots of them.”

Officers found several rifles and ammunition.

During a search of Kurtzer’s home, officers found several additional rifles including two AR15-style assault rifles, handguns, silencers, several weapons parts for use in the assembly of assault rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and milling machinery, which is used to manufacture handguns and rifles. A subsequent search of a storage unit revealed more than 600 rounds of ammunition.

A review of Kurtzer’s criminal record included 52 adult arraignments including five restraining orders and an armed robbery conviction.

Kurtzer is set to appear in federal court Wednesday afternoon.
