SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A woman has pleaded guilty to smuggling Suboxone into a Massachusetts jail in glasses cases.
The Republican of Springfield reports that 39-year-old Sarah Gadoua entered her plea Wednesday to conspiracy and was sentenced to six months’ probation.
Prosecutors say Gadoua smuggled Suboxone strips into the Hampden County Correctional Center in Ludlow.
They say Gadoua bought the strips from the parents of an inmate, pulled back the lining of glasses cases and inserted the strips, and then glued the lining back before giving them to the inmate.
Investigators were notified after monitoring phone calls from jail.
Suboxone is intended to treat heroin addiction, but some abuse the drug to get high.
The trials for the inmate and his parents are still pending.
