CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man has been charged with running over his girlfriend with his car during an early morning argument.
Central Falls police say they found the 23-year-old woman pinned underneath the car just before 2 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters used airbags and wooden blocks to lift the car off her.
The woman is listed in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Police say she has severe leg and torso injuries. Her name hasn’t been released.
Police charged 25-year-old Armais Kocharov with several crimes including driving while intoxicated involving bodily injury and domestic assault.
The Providence resident is detained on $100,000 bail pending a court hearing Monday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
