Sunday night will mark a first for Major League Baseball.

The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves will play at the Fort Bragg Army post in North Carolina.

It’s the first ever pro sporting event on an active military installation.

MLB and the Players Association planned the game, and built a brand new ball park to say thank you to the men and women who serve our country.

They transformed an empty field into a facility fit for the pros in four months.

“I’ll be honest, the folder that I have from the inception of this, I wrote ‘Field of Dreams’ on it,” Chief of Recreation Division Eric Hill said. “Because often we get approached with great ideas that people aren’t able to bring together for whatever reason.”

Sunday’s game starts at 8:00 p.m.

The 12,500 tickets are limited to military personnel.

The field is now a permanent part of Fort Bragg, and it will host youth and adult intramural team events.
