BOSTON (WHDH) - Two Boston Police officers were injured Friday after an altercation with a suspect.

Police said the officers were in the Common when they saw a man smoking, which is a municipal ordinance violation. They then learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Connecticut.

When the officers tried to arrest the man, he allegedly became combative. The two officers were treated for minor injuries at at the hospital and released.

The suspect was arrested and now faces charges of assault and battery.
