Authorities ID body found in river, death thought accidental

DENNIS, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Boston man whose body was found in about eight feet of water in a Cape Cod river over the weekend.

The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office identified the man as 31-year-old Christopher Diozzi. Diozzi’s body was found Sunday evening in the Bass River.

A state police spokesman says Diozzi’s friends called police Sunday morning when he disappeared. He was last seen Saturday night.

Dennis fire officials say divers found Diozzi’s body under a floating dock near where his friends were staying.

Authorities say his death is being considered an accident but remains under investigation.
