Towns on Cape Cod, including Sandwich, have taken a hit from Saturday’s snowstorm.

Heavy winds and blowing snow have buried towns on the Cape, where a Blizzard Warning was in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday. The Blizzard Warning also covered Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island.

Many residents braved the snow Saturday and parked their cars at the beach to watch the snow blowing off the sand.

More than 1,700 power outages were reported throughout Sandwich on Saturday and crews are working to restore electricity. The Sandwich Fire Department also reported that a plow truck caught fire Saturday evening.
