STOUGHTON, MASS. (WHDH) - Authorities have identified the 32-year-old man who was fatally shot by police in Stoughton early Saturday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a person who was possibly armed outside a bar on Monk Street around 12:30 a.m. reported the man got into a black Mazda CX-5 and tried to hit numerous pedestrians while driving through the area, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

Officers encountered the man, later identified as Salaheddine Yagoub, of no known address, on Monk Street, where he was shot. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The incident is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
