Want a free Chipotle burrito?

In the wake of a recent norovirus scare at a Boston location and an E. Coli outbreak, the company postponed the opening of its stores on Monday to review food safety procedures with its 50,000 employees.

To help attract customers back to its locations, the company offered free burritos as its workers attended the meeting.

To get a free burrito, customers can text "RAINCHECK" to 888-222.

The offer expires at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, according to the Chipotle Web site.

Chipotle is trying to bounce back from plunging sales since an E. coli outbreak came to light in late October.

Executives say they may never know what caused the illnesses, but that it was likely the result of cross contamination in restaurants.

The Boston illnesses brought more attention to a norovirus case in California and a salmonella case in Minnesota earlier in the year.

In January, sales were down 36 percent at restaurants open at least 13 months from the year-ago period.
