NORTH HERO, Vt. (AP) — Four deer trapped on Lake Champlain have been brought to shore, the North Hero Volunteer Fire Department said.
The deer had been trapped on the ice since Sunday afternoon, the department said on its Facebook page. The department used an airboat on Monday to get the animals to shore, WCAX-TV reported.
One deer died overnight and two others had to be euthanized, according to the news station. The carcasses will be processed and the meat donated to area food shelves, the fire department said.
