FRANKLIN, MASS. (WHDH) - The video shows a man raking leaves outside — but it’s not a landscaper.

It’s a Franklin Police officer.

When Jim Delbou heard the loud roar of leaf blowers across from his home early Sunday morning, he grew concerned that it would wake his daughter, Lilah.

She’s currently on bedrest after suffering a concussion from playing basketball.

“It hasn’t been easy,” Delbou said. “She’s not herself.”

So he called police dispatch. But it turns out the town actually allows leaf blowing after 7 a.m.

But officer Lou Marguerite decided to see what he could do.

“They had two leaf blowers going and it was quite loud,” the officer said.

Marguerite suggested the teenage workers take the leaf blowers behind the building while he took care of the rest. He asked for a rake.

“Two minutes later he comes around the corner with a rake in his hand,” Delbou said. “And I’m like, you’ve got to be kidding — what is he doing?”

Shocked by the kind gesture, Delbou grabbed his iPad and started recording.

“It breaks my heart,” he said. “I’m going to tear up now, that he would even consider, you know, thinking of my daughter.”

The veteran officer had no idea Delbou posted the video to Facebook until it got more than 200,000 views and his phone started buzzing.

“The text messages just started coming and never stopped all day, saying, hey, great job. You know, it was a great thing,” the officer said.
