WAKEFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - Police searched a wooded area in Wakefield in connection with a year-old murder investigation.
Officials are searching on Briarwood Lane, a dead-end street in a residential area of town. The area that is being searched belongs to National Grid.
Sources told 7News that police are investigating the murder of 30-year-old Jeffrey Raphael of Lynn, who was found dead in a car in April 2015. Police said Raphael had been shot.
Police and State Troopers are searching the area with a backhoe, metal detectors, and other instruments. Officials told 7News they are looking for clothing and possibly a weapon.
The search is in connection with a recent homicide but no further information has been provided.
