CHESTER, Vt. (AP) — The school year in Chester is off to a rough start, with all students now spending their days learning at the local high school due to flooding at the elementary school.
Chester-Andover Elementary School suffered a water main break that flooded the school just before it opened. Vermont Public Radio reportsstudents in grades two through six have been moved to Green Mountain Union High School, while the kindergarten and first grade classes were being held at the nearby Chester Baptist Church.
An air test later detected mold at the church — so now all students are at the high school.
Chester-Andover was part of an Act 46 merger, and so the damage at the school will be addressed by the new merged school board.
