PLYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A camping trip took a tragic turn when a man in Plymouth drowned at Curlew Pond in Plymouth.

According Plymouth fire officials, a 69-year-old man from Taunton was out in a canoe when it overturned.

He was not wearing a life vest at the time.

When fire officials arrived the victim was already on the shore.

Emergency crews performed CPR. He was later taken to Beth Israel in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead.

The pond is located in Myles Standish State Forest.

State police are investigating the incident.
