BOSTON (AP) — Early voters in Massachusetts have been out casting their ballots in large numbers this weekend.
Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin says about 79,000 voters had taken advantage of early voting by 3 p.m. Saturday in 284 cities and towns. Galvin he expects that number to rise to about 100,000 by the time the polls close Saturday.
Since early voting began Monday, a total of 405,000 people have cast ballots. Twenty-six communities will offer early voting on Sunday, including Worcester, New Bedford, Lowell and Lawrence.
More than 80 percent of the Bay State’s 351 cities and towns are offering the option for the first time this election.
Early voting will end on Nov. 4, four days before the Nov. 8 election.
