BROCKTON, MASS. (WHDH) - An abrupt start to an arraignment had court officers rushing into the holding area when, according to sources, the suspect briefly became uncooperative.

18-year-old Frantz Polynice of Brockton plead not guilty to murdering his mother, 44-year-old Mania Meneide, inside the family’s Merritt Avenue home in Brockton Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect’s grandmother was in the house at the time but wasn’t hurt. Meneide was stabbed as many as 15 times with a kitchen knife.

Polynice graduated from Brockton High earlier this year where he played football.

The DA says the motive remains a mystery.
