The President was officially kicking off his re-election campaign, which is not exactly breaking news, but what is news is how the President will try to win re-election.
First, forget, "Yes we can!” now it's, "Trust me.”
"I still believe in you, and I’m asking you to keep believing in me," President Obama said.
And, as for hope and change, the President admits he hasn't delivered much:
"We have to move forward to the future we imagined in 2008," President Obama said.
If the President has his way, when you see Mitt Romney, you'll think of George Bush.
That's why much of his campaign will be an attack on Romney and Republicans:
"They’re just hoping you won't remember the last time we tried it that way," President Obama said.
The President will do everything he can to avoid the question, "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
"The question that will actually make a difference in your life and in the lives of your children is not just how we're doing today, it's about how we'll be doing tomorrow," President Obama said.
And in a race that's bound to be close, the Obamas will even plead for votes:
"Barack needs your help. He needs your help. He needs your help," Michelle Obama said.
I assume that every president would like to run a positive campaign, focused on achievements of the past, and a vision for the future the nation shares.
I also assume that won't be the campaign President Obama runs because the economy won't let him.
