Police have arrested a suspect accused of stealing an iPad after they found a key clue on the tablet’s iCloud.

Police said 19-year-old Ralphy Olivero broke into the victim’s car and stole a backpack that contained the man’s iPad. A few days later he said he logged onto his iCloud account and found nine new photos that had been uploaded after his iPad was stolen.

Police said most of the photos were selfies, which gave them a picture of their suspect. The man then used his "Find My iPad" app, which gave police a location.

"I’d like to say the police did this but the victim did most of this," said Wrentham Police Dep. Chief Bill McGrath. "He activated his Find My iPad app and that narrowed it to an area of Woonsocket."

Police went to Woonsocket and said they knocked on several doors until a woman answered one and identified Olivero as her son. Olivero was arrested and police said he is also linked to other stolen items that he allegedly sold to a pawn shop in Rhode Island.
