A 12-year-old Brockton boy who fell through ice in January has died.
C.J. Thompson was playing on a pond with another child at the time.
Thompson got trapped under the water and was rescued by people nearby.
He was in the hospital for weeks, but police have now confirmed the Thompson has died.
On Tuesday morning, the family released a statement:
We would like to thank our family, friends, community and even complete strangers for the outpouring of love and support you have provided to our family over the past month. We are heartbroken to share the sad news that CJ passed away yesterday. We ask you to respect our privacy during this difficult time, so that we may grieve.
