BOSTON (WHDH) - The price tag for Boston’s Christmas tree is causing controversy in Canada.

Officials in Nova Scotia spent nearly a quarter of a million dollars to send the annual Christmas tree to Boston last year.

The money went towards transportation and sponsorship for the tree lighting ceremony.

Some people there are outraged at home much it costs to transport the tree.

The gift is to thank Boston, which sent medical personnel quickly after a deadly explosion back in 1917.
