Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has confirmed the driver of a car involved in a head-on crash with a school bus on Wednesday has died. 

Patricia Metz, 73 of Sudbury, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following the crash, where she later succumbed to her injuries. 

The school bus involved was from Algonquin Regional High School.

Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix said Metz had to be cut from the vehicle. 

Police said the school bus was carrying approximately twenty-five students from Algonquin Regional High school’s girls’ rugby team. Nine players and the driver suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
