SOUTH BOSTON – A former police station in South Boston has become new affordable housing for veterans.

The building contains 24 new apartments, six of which were set aside for homeless veterans. The apartments are handicap-accessible and affordable.

“I don’t think there’s a better way of celebrating Veterans Day by opening this new home here for veterans and their families,” said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. “South Boston is one of those communities that has never forgotten their veterans.”

South Boston has one of the highest populations of veterans in the city.
