BOSTON (WHDH) - A father too sick to see his son graduate from high school had the ceremony brought to him.

Guy Eddy’s father is currently hospitalized at Mass General Hospital and missed Friday night’s graduation ceremony at Stoughton High School. He is battling liver cancer and just underwent heart surgery.

Eddy, the captain of the football team, moved to Stoughton several years ago with his father and brother after his mother passed away. After Eddy’s father was rushed to the hospital last week, it meant he would have to miss seeing his son graduate high school.

“He told me he was sick and all he wanted to do was see his son graduate and go to college,” said teacher Liz Londergan. Stoughton High School’s principal and some teachers, including Londergan, went to Mass General in their robes so they could present Eddy with his diploma in front of his father.

“I would never expect anyone to set something up like that for me or my dad, that’s amazing,” said Eddy.
