LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) - Two people are dead after a rollover crash early Saturday morning in Lawrence.

Around 2:17 a.m., State Police responded to a single car crash on Route 495 south on the off ramp to Marston Street in Lawrence.

According to police, a 22-year-old Lawrence man operating a 1992 Honda Civic entered the off ramp at high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve, causing the car to drive off and rollover.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was initially transported to Lawrence General Hospital, but was later transferred to Beth Israel for medical treatment.

Two passengers were killed. They have been identified as Alexander Castro, 23 of Salem, and Wilbert Munoz, 26 of Lawrence.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The off ramp was closed for nearly four hours for investigation and clean up.
