HYANNIS, MASS. (WHDH) - The city of Hyannis has issued a drinking water advisory.

Officials said two chemicals in the water have been found to be near the limit established by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The chemicals primarily affect pregnant and nursing mothers and infants. Officials said all should avoid consuming water from the Hyannis system and instead use bottled water. Boiling water will not destroy the chemicals and may even increase their levels. Children and other adults are not affected.

The city is working to install a treatment system for the problem well.
