BOSTON (WHDH) - Two men were held on high bail Wednesday on charges stemming from an attempted robbery and attempted murder of State Police troopers in Roslindale Tuesday.

Luis Colon, 25 of Lawrence, and Eric Rosado-Gonzalez, 25 of Dorchester, were held on $500,000 bail at their arraignments Wednesday.

Colon was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence and armed assault with intent to murder.

Rosado-Gonzalez was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, armed assault with intent to rob, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said undercover Boston Police and State Police were conducting a joint investigation at a house on Newbury Street at around 5 p.m.

Officials said Rosado-Gonzalez sold heroin to undercover troopers on three separate occasions and then allegedly offered to sell them multiple firearms. They arranged a deal of two handguns and an Uzi submachinegun for $1,800. Troopers confirmed the deal and scheduled it for Tuesday. When they met up with Colon, he allegedly told them to come inside the home. The trooper declined, but agreed to make the exchange on the porch.

Around the same time, Rosado-Gonzalez allegedly approached the second trooper, who was still in his car. Rosado-Gonzalez then allegedly took out a gun and put it to the trooper’s head. The trooper struggled with him before getting him out of the car.

Meanwhile, Colon had also pulled out a gun and struggled with the first trooper. Colon and the trooper both fired, but neither struck the other or anyone else.

Both suspects then ran away. Colon was caught a few blocks away and Rosado-Gonzalez was taken into custody later in the night after a search.

Evans said one BPD officer suffered a minor injury and is expected to be OK. It is unknown if one or both of the suspects opened fire.

Both will return to court on Oct. 28.
