California woman Guadalupe Portillo is 102 years old, but she had never voted in a national U.S. election until Tuesday.
Originally from Mexico, Portillo came to the United States in the 1980s as a legal resident and just last year became a U.S. citizen by taking the oath of citizenship. A resident of the Lincoln Heights neighborhood in Los Angeles, she cherished her chance to vote in Tuesday’s election because she hopes to see immigration reform in her lifetime.
