A man dressed as Darth Vader and holding a gun stormed into a convenience store in Florida, but quickly realized venturing to the dark side does not pay off.

Witness Richard Ehrman said he saw the man minutes before the robbery, but had no idea just how odd things were about to get.

According to police, Jacob Jeremy Mercer slipped on a Darth Vader mask, a black hoodie and walked in just seconds after Ehrman left.

Mercer was seen on surveillance pictures holding a gun.

The clerk said he demanded money.

After being hit in the head with a jar of ranch dressing, Mercer surrendered himself.

Police also discovered the gun was fake, but Mercer is still being charged with armed robbery.

Mercer previously spent more than two-and-a-half years in prison for armed aggravated assault and burglary a few years ago.
