MARION, MASS. (WHDH) - The Marion Police Department is investigating after a female student reported that a suspicious person was following her to school.

At about 8:40 a.m., the student told her teacher she was being followed while walking to Sippican Elementary School. The teacher told school officials, who told Marion Police.

She told her teacher she was walking on Pleasant Street at the time, and described the person as a 6-foot-tall adult who was wearing dark clothing and possibly a mask. She said the person was walking quickly behind her.

The incident remains under active investigation and police have interviewed witnesses. They’re asking anyone who may have noticed a suspicious person or activity in the area to call Marion Police at 508-748-1212. Police are also asking area residents to contact police if they have doorbell or surveillance camera footage to share.

People may have noticed an increased police presence at the Sippican Elementary School Thursday due to the investigation.
