On March 4, the moment doctors handed Brandi McGlathery her newborn baby Eli, she immediately knew something was wrong.

“He’s delivered and the doctor put him on my chest and as his dad was cutting the cord I kind of pulled him back so I could get a good look at him and I said ‘something is wrong with him,” she said.

Her initial excitement shattered at their first embrace. Doctors in the delivery room tried reassuring her Eli was fine and her baby was whisked away. She knew her baby was different.
