WALPOLE, MASS. (WHDH) - The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office has identified the man who died after being struck by a car on Saturday in the area of Washington Street in Walpole.
Officials say David Johnson, 83, of Walpole, died after being hit and taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver, a 19-year-old, stayed at the scene.
“There’s been accidents here before, people have hit phone poles and such, but this is just a terrible tragedy,” said a neighbor who knew Johnson. “Dave was a wonderful guy and it’s a terrible loss for the whole community.”
No charges have been filed.
The crash remains under investigation.
