JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — And the winner is … the “N” or the “A”?
That was the question posed by the operator of the Holland Tunnel into New York after motorists complained about the placement of a decoration shaped like a Christmas tree.
The tree and two circular wreaths have adorned the tunnel for years. But some say having the tree over the “N” in “Holland” could be a trigger for people with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Others say it’s just plain ugly and say the “A” is more appropriate for the tree.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey commissioned a poll last week. It’s scheduled to release the results Monday.
Executive Director Rick Cotton says the authority will act based on what the public wants. He said a design competition is possible for next year.
