Two South Carolina teenagers are charged with animal cruelty after police say they shot a puppy with a BB gun more than a dozen times.

The teens, 14 and 17 years old, were arrested in the city of Rock Hill, a suburb of Charlotte.

The dog named Brody was shot up to 18 times according to police and is being treated at an animal hospital.

A veterinarian said the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Hospital workers have received hundreds of calls from people wanting to adopt the puppy.

If convicted in the shooting, the teens face up to five years behind bars.
