WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — Two people were arrested overnight after a home invasion in Worcester prompted a massive police response.
Swat teams swarmed the Grafton Hill neighborhood and people were evacuated from their homes in the middle of the night.
A swat team was called and people were pushed back while police searched for suspects and weapons following a report of shots fired at a Cohasset Street home. It was all part of what appeared to be a home invasion, according to the Worcester Telegram.
The Telegram reported that two people who jumped out the window when police arrived here found and taken into custody, and that the three people inside the house were not hurt.
“It was a little surreal at first. I was like, ‘is this really happening?’ because you know, you see all of the officers at once and you’re thinking, ‘this is my neighborhood,’” said Veronica Rosado who heard the gunshots.
“I’m still shaking. It’s scary. It really is. I can’t believe it. I mean, we’ve had trouble in that house before but nothing like this,” said Mary Lamb who was evacuated from her home.
Witnesses told 7News they heard at least two gunshots.
After several hours and a K9 search of the neighborhood, people were allowed back into their houses around 1:30 in the morning.
