NEW YORK (AP) — Verizon confirmed Monday the $4.83B buyout of online pioneer Yahoo, marking end of an era for company that once defined the internet.

This comes after a five-month bidding process.

The deal is ending Yahoo’s 21-year run as an independent company.

Verizon also bought AOL last year for $4.4B.
