What’s Cookin: Crabcakes

Haddad’s Ocean Café in Marshfield is all about fresh seafood, now they’re showing us What’s Cookin with their crabcakes.

  • 2lbs of fresh crab meat
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon light cream
  • 1/2 cup corn
  • 1/2 cup diced red pepper and scallions
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup panko crumbs
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 lemon zested and juiced
  1. In a bowl, combine, the crab meat, eggs, mayonnaise and light cream. Add the corn, red pepper and scallions, cayenne pepper, panko crumbs, Italian bread crumbs, lemon zest and lemon juice. Combine ingredients and form the mixture into patties.
  2. Heat frying pan on medium heat with vegetable oil. (I’ll get the exact measurement for the oil). Pan fry the patties until golden brown – about 5 minutes each side.
  3. The crab cake is served on a toasted, buttered roll, and can be dressed with either a spicy mayo (we could give you this simple recipe too) or tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato and/or onion if desired.
