WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing the father of one of his former girlfriend’s children.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that 29-year-old Charlie Jimenez pleaded guilty Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court to second-degree murder and domestic assault charges. Sentencing was scheduled for July 12.

Prosecutors say Jimenez, of Worcester, went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on the night of March 28, 2015 and they got into an argument during which he assaulted her. The couple had a 2-year-old child together.

Authorities say as Jimenez was leaving, he ran into 25-year-old Christian Ramos, who also had a child with the woman. Jimenez stabbed Ramos multiple times, including once in the heart.

Jimenez faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole.
