SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police are investigating a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a downtown strip club.

Officers on foot patrol in the area heard the gunfire at about 2 a.m. Friday and ran to the parking lot of the Mardi Gras club, where they found the 30-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

His name was not immediately released pending notification of family.

No arrests have been announced.

The shooting was the city’s seventh homicide of the year.
