We’re more than halfway through the work week, closing in on the end of “hump day.”  Is it too soon to talk about the upcoming weekend?  Considering it’s MY Monday, it might be a little too early to make “weekend plans,” but for the normal folks of the working-world, PLAN AWAY!  The weekend forecast looks fantastic for whatever summer plans you have in store.

We did have some midday showers and storms work through the area, and some of us even got caught in a brief downpour.  However, the official observation sites didn’t record MUCH rain out of those passing showers today – only about 0.01-0.05″, with the more significant precip focused on central and northern New England.  We have such a long way to go in the Rain Department, with most towns around 3-5″ below average for the year.  Even for the month of June, BOS is 1.59″ below average.  Where’s the rain?

We do have a shot at some drops tomorrow, but I think most of us stay dry.  Again, nowhere near the good dousing we could use… especially when considering our 30% chance of showers Thursday is the best chance for the next several days.  This system that could bring us isolated showers tomorrow afternoon really stays to the south of us.  Forecast models are suggesting that if we get any rain, it will be an isolated shower or two, mainly south of the Mass. Pike.  Maybe take the umbrella with you to work tomorrow, but it may be like today:  By the time you realize you need the umbrella, the rain is gone before your umbrella is out!

Too soon to talk about the weekend?  I think not!  High pressure makes a comeback, turning the weekend forecast dry and WARM!  Plenty of sunshine in store, inland temps into the mid to upper 80s (to even 90° on Sunday), coastal temps staying in the 70s.  Perfect.  Side Note:  I did get an email today from a man in Harwich that said, “PLEASE stop telling everyone it’s a great time to go to the Cape!”   So, to honor this kind emailer’s wishes:  This weekend is a great time to go anywhere you want.  I like Hampton Beach… I hear the White Mountains are lovely this time of year… even Six Flags doesn’t sound too bad.  Plus, I’m curious about Water Country and Story Land???  You can spend the weekend wherever you want – but just wear the sunscreen.  :c)
