An impressive storm cranking across southern Canada this evening. This storm will continue heading across Canada, destined for the Davis Strait (west of Greenland). In doing so, the storm is in the process of rearranging the meteorological furniture in the living room setting the stage for a cold(er) pattern to evolve for the East Coast in the coming days and weeks. In the short term, the temps won’t be that cold–seasonable to chilly at times but by next week and beyond it looks quite cold.

A pattern like that also means sooner or later we’ll deal with snow in some fashion. It’s also a great pattern if your hobby is to build a backyard ice rink–best we’ve seen in years for that!

Ok….the blog title is Wet, Windy & Warm and yet I’m going off on cold & potential snow. Slow yer roll JR…..will do. We are tracking steady rain for late this evening and overnight but we should be able to move the rain out of here before the Wednesday morning commute. Check out the future radar forecast 6am Wednesday:

Some lingering rain along the Cape/Islands and South Shore but dry here in the metro. Most towns will pick up between .50 and 1.00″ of rain overnight. Warm too..temps near 60 tonight! As the band of steady rain is moving through New England, some strong wind gusts may happen–especially along the coast:

That wind is from the south tonight but will swing into the west tomorrow, bringing sunshine back but also dragging cooler air into the region during the day. Temps start near 50 at 7am but fall into the mid 40s for the day and down to near 40 during the evening commute. Grab that coat! Sunny & seasonable for Thursday. Friday and into Saturday we will still watch the potential for some snow across southern New England:

It still doesn’t look like a major storm with heavy snow but perhaps for just enough to sugar coat road surfaces late Friday evening into early Saturday morning. More thoughts on this tomorrow and again Thursday.
