Growing up in the Berkshires, I quickly became fond of Nor’easters this time of year…which led me to really hate Sou’easters this time of year. It’s a term you almost never hear—maybe a rare #TBT from some weather junkies sitting around the fire.."In MY day…" but it is legit. Basically, it’s a rainstorm with wind from the southeast instead of the northeast and that’s what is on tap for Sunday. Ugh…

Tonight & Saturday we deal with clouds and a few patches of drizzle from time to time. technically, it’s a storm doing its dirty work but the storm is so weak, the best it can do is create a cloudy sky with some patchy drizzle. The wrinkle will be some chilly pockets of air in the Worcester Hills and southern New Hampshire. That patchy drizzle may take on the form of some freezing drizzle late tonight & early tomorrow morning. Nothing serious but just a heads up when out late tonight-early Saturday Morning. Actually a decent winter day for skiing (especially compared to Sunday).

The Sunday Sou’easter. Here are storm deets:
* Rain arrives midday and is with us until about 7-8pm
* Most towns get soaked, picking up an inch of rain by storms end
* It’s a warm rain as temps soar into the low 50s (record for Boston is 56)
* A southeast wind transports the warm air in here and that wind will gust between 30-45mph along the coastline from 3-7pm
* Some minor power disruption is likely with that type of wind gust

Long story short…..a great day hunker on the couch and watch NFL football…or, take in The Force Awakens yet again.

Blustery & cold weather returns next week.

Have a great weekend!
