TGIF people!  Already looking forward to the weekend?  Good, me too.  I’m also looking forward to temps nearing 50 both on Saturday and on Sunday. Before we get there, we do deal with a cold start this morning as temperatures run in the teens for most towns.  At least we don’t have a strong wind, so it’s a more manageable cold this morning compared to the bitter air of last weekend.  With sunshine through the morning, we’ll rise to near 40 this afternoon, perfectly seasonable for this time of year.

Flakes fly first, then the temps near 50.  To get to the milder air, you need a warm front to push through and that warm front also pushes in moisture into the lingering cold.  First it’s the clouds this afternoon, then the snow showers this evening.  Those snow showers don’t amount to much, a coating to an inch, mainly north of the Pike.  Those snow showers mix with sleet pellets and rain drops overnight as temps rise to the mid to upper 30s by daybreak.

Skiing this weekend?  Several inches of snow are possible up north tonight and tomorrow.  Temps this weekend run 35-40 across the mountains in the afternoon.  Much better than the bitter air of last weekend!

Down in southern New England, after an early shower Saturday, much of the day is dry with temps near 50 in the afternoon.  I can’t rule out a late-day/early evening brief shower again, but it won’t take up much time.  Lower 50s are expected Sunday with sunshine yielding to increasing afternoon clouds.

Despite nearing 50 Sunday, a quick moving system sliding just south of New England  Sunday night may provide a period of wet snow/rain to the area.  It’ll likely be in after sunset Sunday and out of here by sunrise Monday.

A bigger storm working up the coast will likely provide more snow/ice/rain by Wednesday.

Enjoy your day.
