Ho ho ho… nothing says Christmas like 60 degree weather huh?  While most of us are in the warmth to kick start this Christmas, we’re still in an unsettled pattern through the mid morning hours as more showers run through Southern New England.  After picking up 0.50-1.00″ of rain through the overnight hours, another 0.25-0.50″ of rain falls this morning.  Certainly a soaker, but not enough to cause significant flooding issues.  Rain ends from west to east around 10:00-11:00AM with partial sunshine returning for the afternoon.

North of Boston, up through the Merrimack Valley and into Southern New Hampshire, the warm air has had trouble breaking through this morning.  However, once winds turn to the southwest and west, temps should warm into the 50s around midday if not by late this morning.  Winds will be active for all of us through the afternoon, gusting 30-40mph.

Temps cool tonight, but still above seasonal levels with lows in the 30s.

Friday and Saturday look like really nice days with highs tomorrow in the mid to upper 40s and in the 50s Saturday.  If Santa dropped off that new bike this morning, it looks like we’ll have the weather to kick up the kick stand and take it for a spin.  If it’s a new set of skies/snowboard, Northern New England still has plenty of snow on the slopes and if it’s skates for the backyard skating rink… well, give next week a chance.

The pattern change is still in the cards as highs next week fall into the 30s, and perhaps even the 20s by New Years Eve.  Will it snow?  Maybe… storm track right now looks south, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Enjoy the time with friends and family today, and Merry Christmas.
